The OSG 8666320 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for precision hole-making in demanding production environments. Measuring 0.5197 inches (13.20 mm) in diameter with a 140-degree split-point geometry, this bit delivers aggressive penetration with reduced walking and thrust. The WXL coating extends tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials by reducing heat and friction at the cutting edge. With a straight-cylindrical shank and right-hand spiral flute configuration, it mounts directly in standard drill chucks and collet holders. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed machining applications where chip evacuation and thermal control are critical. This bit is sold individually.
The 8666320 is suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and production boring operations where short, rigid tool setups are required. Screw machine length geometry provides a stiffer profile than jobber-length bits, making it appropriate for tight-tolerance applications in steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar materials. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in job shop or high-volume manufacturing environments are the primary installers of this bit. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip clearance in moderate-depth holes without sacrificing rigidity.
Designed for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks and collet holders across CNC machining centers and drill press setups that accept a 0.5197-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for drilling applications within the 0.5000 to 0.6000 inch (11.00 to 13.50 mm) diameter range.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully powered down and locked out. Verify chuck or collet grip is fully engaged on the straight-cylindrical shank before running the spindle. When using coolant-through capability, confirm the machine tool coolant circuit is compatible and operating at the pressure recommended by the machine manufacturer. Inspect the cutting edge for wear or chipping before each use; carbide is brittle and should not be dropped or subjected to lateral impact.
