The OSG 8651000 is a screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in metalworking and machining applications. Built from high-speed steel with a WD1 coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced heat buildup during cutting. The bit measures 10.00 mm in diameter with an overall length of 93.00 mm (3.6614 inches) and a flute length of 43.00 mm. The 120-degree faceted point provides accurate self-centering on entry, while the web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. This is a right-hand cutting, spiral flute design in the Series 1150 lineup, suited for production and maintenance machining environments.
This drill bit is designed for use in screw machine operations, CNC drilling centers, and manual drill press setups where shorter drill length adds rigidity and reduces deflection. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and straight-cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks and collet holders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. It is well suited for machinists, tool and die technicians, and maintenance mechanics working in light to medium production environments.
Designed as a direct-fit screw machine length drill bit for use in standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 10.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for drilling steel, alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces.
Install and remove drill bits only after the spindle has come to a complete stop and power has been locked out per applicable machine safety procedures. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the chuck or collet is tightened to the tool holder manufacturer specification before running the spindle. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for wear or chipping before each use, as a dull or damaged drill increases heat, deflection, and the risk of tool breakage. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant compatible with the workpiece material to maintain tool life.
