The OSG 8623245 is an extra length cobalt drill bit designed for demanding metalworking applications where standard-length bits fall short. Built from M6K-grade cobalt high-speed steel and coated with OSG WXL finish, this bit delivers extended tool life when drilling through hard and abrasive materials. It carries a 120-degree standard point angle with R-thinned web geometry for reduced thrust and cleaner entry. The 2-flute spiral design with a fast spiral type promotes efficient chip evacuation. Overall length is 165 mm with a 104 mm flute length, giving machinists and fabricators the reach needed in deep-hole operations.
This drill bit is sized to wire gauge 16, equivalent to 0.1770 inches (4.50 mm) decimal diameter, with a straight-cylindrical shank diameter of 0.1772 inches. It is suited for production and maintenance machining environments, including aerospace, die and mold, and general metalworking shops. The Series 1750 designation places it within OSG's high-performance cobalt line. Coolant-through capability is not included. Right-hand cutting direction is standard. It is sold individually and is appropriate for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual operations requiring extended reach in confined or deep-bore setups.
Designed as a high-performance extra length drill bit for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual drilling operations requiring wire size 16 (4.50 mm) bore capability in metalworking applications.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tool and die professionals familiar with cutting tool setup. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a compatible chuck or collet to the full recommended grip depth before operation. Ensure the spindle and workpiece are properly fixtured before engaging the cut. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine manufacturer guidelines for speeds and feeds when running cobalt tooling.
