The OSG 8612556 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous and hard-to-machine materials. It measures 7/32 inch (0.2188 inch / 5.56 mm) in diameter with an overall length of 101 mm and a flute length of 57 mm. The bit is manufactured from powdered metal and features a V coating to reduce friction and extend tool life in demanding applications. A 130-degree point angle with R-thinned web geometry improves self-centering and reduces thrust when drilling into steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and nickel alloys. Intended for installation and use by machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals who require consistent hole quality in production or field environments.
This drill bit is suited for blind hole drilling, cross hole drilling, general drilling, and self-centering applications in steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and nickel alloy workpieces. The regular spiral flute and straight-cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks and CNC spindles. It is part of the OSG Series 1950 lineup, which is oriented toward high-performance cutting in P, K, S, and H material groups per ISO classification. Typical use cases include maintenance and repair operations, fabrication shops, and trade service environments where a reliable jobber-length drill is needed for mid-range diameter holes.
Designed for use in steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and nickel alloy workpieces. Compatible with standard drill chucks and CNC spindles accepting a 6.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Part of OSG Series 1950.
Install into a properly sized drill chuck or collet and verify shank seating before operation. Machinists and maintenance technicians should confirm spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material before drilling. Secure the workpiece firmly to prevent movement during cutting. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and remove the bit from service if chipping or excessive wear is observed.
