The OSG 8612366 is a jobber-length drill bit in wire size 27 (3.66 mm / 0.1440 inches decimal), manufactured from powdered metal with a V coating for extended wear resistance. It features a 130-degree point angle with an X-thinned web configuration, which reduces thrust and improves self-centering on entry. The two-flute spiral design with a regular spiral type and tapered web delivers efficient chip evacuation in jobber-length applications. At 71 mm overall length with a 39 mm flute length and a 4 mm straight-cylindrical shank, this bit is suited for precision drilling in metalworking environments. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers.
This drill bit is rated as high performance and is designed for drilling into steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and nickel alloy workpieces. It supports blind hole drilling, cross-hole drilling, standard through-drilling, and self-centering applications. The Series 1950 designation places it within OSG high-performance powdered metal tooling. Coolant-through capability is not available on this model. Diameter tolerance is held to plus 0 to minus 0.018 mm, making it appropriate for close-tolerance work where hole size consistency is critical.
Designed for use in steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and nickel alloy workpieces as stated in OSG Series 1950 specifications. Workpiece material codes P, K, S, and H are supported per the product attribute data.
This bit is installed and used by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and metalworking professionals using standard drill presses, CNC machining centers, or hand-held electric drills with compatible chucks. Ensure the shank is fully seated and secure before operation to prevent runout. Coolant-through is not supported on this model; external coolant or cutting fluid is recommended when drilling hard alloys to manage heat buildup. Inspect the cutting edge and web condition before each use and replace the bit if chipping or excessive wear is observed.
