The OSG 8612258 is a jobber length drill bit designed for high-performance metal drilling in professional machining and fabrication applications. Built from powdered metal with a V coating, this bit delivers extended tool life and wear resistance compared to standard high-speed steel. It carries a 130-degree split-point (X-thinned) tip that reduces walking on entry and minimizes the need for a center punch on most setups. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 3.00 millimeters in diameter, and the overall length is 62.00 millimeters with a flute length of 30.00 millimeters. The two-flute spiral design promotes chip evacuation in both through and blind hole applications.
This bit is suited for drilling steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and nickel alloys in production and maintenance environments. The X-thinned web and regular spiral geometry make it effective for blind hole drilling, cross hole operations, self-centering starts, and general drilling tasks. It is used by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance professionals working with ferrous and nickel-based workpiece materials.
