The OSG 8608635 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. Built from XPM high-speed steel with a V-coating finish, it features a 130-degree split-point (R-Thinned) tip that self-centers on entry and reduces thrust force. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 8 millimeters in diameter, and the overall length is 75 millimeters with a 31-millimeter flute length. The 2-flute, regular-spiral geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation in both through and blind-hole applications. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die techs, and maintenance professionals working on steel and alloy components are the primary users of this bit.
This drill bit is rated for use in steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and nickel alloys, covering ISO material codes P, K, S, and H. Typical applications include blind-hole drilling, cross-hole operations, pilot drilling, and self-centering entry cuts. The tapered web configuration and R-Thinned point reduce walking on hard surfaces without requiring a center punch. It is sold individually and fits standard drill chucks and CNC tool holders accepting a straight-cylindrical shank.
Designed for use in steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and nickel alloy workpieces. Suitable for blind-hole, cross-hole, pilot, and self-centering drilling operations per Series 1900 application guidelines.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with drill press, lathe, or CNC milling operations. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck to the correct depth before engaging the spindle. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for wear or chipping before each use — a damaged tip will compromise hole tolerances and can break under load. Follow shop safety protocols and applicable machine guarding requirements when operating rotating tooling.
