The OSG 8608386 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous and hard materials. Built from XPM high-speed steel with a coated finish, it features a 130-degree split point and X-thinned web geometry that reduces thrust and improves centering without a center punch. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 4.00 millimeters in diameter and fits standard drill chucks and quick-change holders. With a 0.152-inch (3.86 mm) cutting diameter and an overall length of 54.00 millimeters, this bit is sized for tight, close-tolerance work in machine shop and production environments. It is installed and used by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance mechanics.
This drill bit is intended for drilling steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and nickel alloys in production and maintenance machining applications. The screw machine length format keeps the bit short and rigid, minimizing deflection when working in drill presses, CNC machining centers, turret lathes, and other production machine tools. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides chip clearance suited to moderate-depth holes in tough ferrous workpiece materials. It is sold individually as a single unit.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and production-use drill bit for standard drill chucks, collet holders, and quick-change systems accepting a 4.00-millimeter straight-cylindrical shank, suitable for drilling steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and nickel alloy workpieces.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance mechanics familiar with drill press, CNC, or turret lathe tooling practices. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout before drilling. Always wear appropriate eye protection and follow facility lockout-tagout procedures when changing tooling on powered equipment. Do not exceed the recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and drill diameter.
