The OSG 8598075 is a jobber-length drill bit machined from vanadium high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating. At 10.75 mm in diameter (0.4232 inches decimal equivalent), it features a 120-degree split point, a two-flute regular spiral design, and an S-thinned web for reduced thrust and improved chip evacuation. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 12.00 mm in diameter and seats securely in standard drill chucks. Overall length is 151.00 mm with a flute length of 94.00 mm. This bit is suited for machinists, toolroom technicians, and metalworking tradespeople who need consistent, repeatable hole quality in production or maintenance environments.
The 8598075 is designed for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and self-centering applications in ferrous and non-ferrous materials including steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. The TiN coating extends tool life in higher-volume drilling operations on steel and stainless steel. It is not configured for coolant-through delivery, so external cutting fluid or flood coolant should be applied at the point of cut when working harder alloys or achieving tighter tolerances.
The OSG 8598075 belongs to OSG Series 1600 and fits within the 10.00 mm to 12.50 mm drill bit size range. It is compatible with any standard drill chuck or machining center spindle that accepts a 12.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for primary workpiece material codes P (steel), M (stainless steel), and N (non-ferrous metals and aluminum alloys).
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with metal cutting practices. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before cutting. Since this bit does not support coolant-through delivery, apply external cutting fluid or flood coolant directly at the cutting zone to manage heat, especially in stainless steel or high-silicon aluminum alloys. Inspect the cutting edges and TiN coating condition before each use and remove from service if chipping or coating wear is observed.
