The OSG 8597875 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from vanadium high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced friction in production and maintenance drilling applications. The 120-degree split point (S-thinned) reduces walking and allows self-centering entry without a center punch on most materials. With an overall length of 131 millimeters and a flute length of 81 millimeters, this bit fits standard drill chucks and CNC machining centers. It is used by machinists, tool and die technicians, pipefitters, and maintenance trades working in metal fabrication and mechanical service environments.
This drill bit is suited for blind hole drilling, cross hole drilling, through drilling, and self-centering applications in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. The 8.75 mm diameter (0.3445 decimal inch) and straight-cylindrical shank with a 10 millimeter shank diameter make it compatible with standard Jacobs-style and collet-style chucks. It is a solid choice for shops and field maintenance crews that need consistent, repeatable hole quality in mixed-material applications.
Designed as an OSG Series 1600 jobber-length drill bit suitable for use in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces with any standard drill press, hand drill, or CNC machining center accepting a 10 millimeter straight-cylindrical shank.
This bit is installed by machinists and maintenance tradespeople in drill presses, hand drills, and CNC machining centers. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify runout before high-tolerance work. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant compatible with the workpiece material to maximize tool life, as this bit does not include coolant-through capability. Follow shop safety protocols and applicable OSHA machine guarding requirements when operating rotary cutting tools.
