The OSG 8597425 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for general-purpose and precision drilling in metal fabrication and machining applications. Built from vanadium high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, this bit delivers extended tool life and reduced friction in demanding materials. The 120-degree split point is S-thinned for self-centering entry, reducing the need for a center punch on most setups. With a 4.25 mm diameter and an overall length of 87 mm, it fits standard drill chucks and CNC tool holders with a 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank. This bit is sold individually and suited for use by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance professionals.
The OSG 8597425 is rated for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. It handles blind hole drilling, cross hole drilling, through drilling, and self-centering operations. The 2-flute spiral design with a regular spiral type and tapered web configuration supports efficient chip evacuation in these materials. The Series 1600 classification places it in OSG high-performance jobber tooling, appropriate for both hand-held drill applications and light machine tool use in production or maintenance environments.
Designed for use with standard drill chucks and collets accepting a 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. Compatible with blind hole, cross hole, through drilling, and self-centering operations per OSG Series 1600 specifications.
Install and remove drill bits only after the spindle has come to a complete stop and power has been isolated from the machine. Verify chuck or collet grip on the full shank diameter before operation. Diameter tolerance of plus 0 to minus 0.018 mm should be confirmed against workpiece fit requirements before use. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine tool manufacturer guidelines for speeds and feeds when drilling stainless steel or hardened alloys.
