The OSG 8597252 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for precision hole-making in metal and light alloy applications. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced friction compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The 2.52 mm diameter (0.0992 inch) bit features a 130-degree S-thinned point that promotes self-centering and reduces thrust force at entry. Overall length is 62 mm with a 30 mm flute length and a 3 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Two regular spiral flutes evacuate chips effectively during through-hole and blind-hole operations. This bit is sized for use in precision drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held electric drills where consistent, tight-tolerance holes are required.
The OSG 8597252 is suited for drilling in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. It handles blind hole, cross hole, standard drilling, and self-centering applications, making it a versatile choice for machine shops, maintenance facilities, and production environments. The right-hand spiral cut and tapered web configuration support controlled chip flow in both ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It ships individually and is appropriate for applications requiring a decimal inch equivalent of approximately 0.0992 inch.
Designed for use in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. Compatible with standard drill chucks accepting a 3 mm straight shank. Part of OSG Series 1600 jobber-length drill bit family covering the 0.0500 to 0.1000 decimal inch diameter range.
Installation and use should be performed by machinists or qualified trade personnel familiar with rotating cutting tools and applicable workshop safety standards. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and confirm runout before beginning a cut. Power down and de-energize the machine before changing bits or adjusting workpiece fixturing. Do not exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material being drilled, and ensure adequate chip clearance to prevent flute packing.
