The OSG 8595665 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metalworking and fabrication applications. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a coated finish, this bit features a 120-degree faceted point angle, web-thinned tapered web, and a two-flute spiral configuration for efficient chip evacuation. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 8.00 mm in diameter and seats securely in standard drill chucks and quick-change toolholders. At 0.2618 inches (6.65 mm) in diameter, it falls within the 0.2500 to 0.3000 inch size range and carries a diameter tolerance of +0 to -0.022 mm. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and general metalworking shops are the primary users of this type of tooling.
This drill bit is suited for screw machine and short-hole drilling operations in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. Its reduced overall length of 75.00 mm (approximately 2.95 inches) compared to jobber-length bits provides added rigidity and improved hole accuracy in CNC machining centers, turret lathes, and screw machines. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports moderate-depth holes while maintaining chip clearance. It is sold individually and carries an OSG Series 1100 designation.
Designed for use in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. Fits standard drill chucks and quick-change systems accepting an 8.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is securely clamped in the holder before beginning any operation. Select appropriate cutting speeds and feeds per the workpiece material to avoid premature tool wear or breakage. Eye protection and applicable shop safety standards apply at all times during operation.
