The OSG 8595605 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metalworking applications. Built from high speed steel with a coated finish, it delivers durability and wear resistance in demanding production environments. The bit measures 0.2382 inches (Letter B, 6.05 mm) in diameter with a 120-degree faceted drill point, a web-thinned tapered web for reduced thrust, and a regular spiral flute for efficient chip evacuation. Overall length is 75.00 mm with a straight-cylindrical shank diameter of 8.00 mm. This is a heavy duty grade tool intended for professional machinists and metalworking tradespeople.
The OSG 8595605 fits production and job-shop drilling scenarios where a shorter, more rigid screw machine length profile is preferred over a jobber-length bit. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides adequate chip clearance in these materials. Its straight-cylindrical shank seats in standard drill chucks and quick-change toolholders without adapters, making it practical for both manual drill presses and CNC machining centers.
Designed for use on steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. Fits any drill press, hand drill, or CNC machining center equipped with a chuck or toolholder accepting an 8.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Part of OSG Series 1100.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or metalworking tradespeople familiar with cutting tool selection and speeds-and-feeds practices. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or toolholder before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling manufacturer guidelines for appropriate cutting speeds, feed rates, and coolant use for the specific workpiece material.
