The OSG 8595439 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metalworking applications. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced friction compared to uncoated bits. The bit measures 0.173 inches (wire size 17) in diameter with a 120-degree faceted point angle and a fast spiral flute geometry. Overall length is approximately 2.677 inches (68 mm) with a flute length of approximately 0.945 inches (24 mm). The straight-cylindrical shank measures approximately 0.236 inches (6 mm) in diameter. This bit is suited for machinists, toolroom technicians, and production drilling operators working with tight-tolerance applications.
This drill bit is built for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. The screw machine length format - shorter than a jobber bit - provides added rigidity and accuracy in drill press, CNC, and manual machine tool setups. Web-thinned construction with a parallel web configuration reduces thrust force at the point, which is especially useful when working with harder alloys or when hole-start precision matters. It is sold individually and is appropriate for production shops and toolrooms requiring consistent, repeatable results.
Designed for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and manual machine tools accepting a straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. Fits within the 0.1500 to 0.2000 inch decimal inch drill bit size range of the OSG Series 1100 line.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel familiar with machine tool operation and cutting tool safety. Secure the shank fully in a compatible chuck before operation and confirm the bit is centered and locked before starting the spindle. Always wear appropriate eye protection and follow the machine manufacturer's speed and feed recommendations for the workpiece material. Do not exceed the bit's rated operating parameters or use the bit for hand-drilling operations.
