The OSG 8595422 is a screw machine length drill bit ground from high-speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating. It carries a wire gauge size 19 designation, equal to 0.1660 decimal inch (4.22 mm). The 120-degree faceted point angle suits general-purpose drilling in a wide range of materials. The web-thinned, tapered web construction reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. At 2.5984 inches overall length with a 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank, this bit is built for screw machine and short-hole work where rigidity and precision matter. It is sold individually and is rated for high-performance cutting applications.
This bit is intended for production and job-shop environments where short, rigid tooling is required. It handles steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpiece materials. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral flute geometry keep it suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machines running moderate to high feed rates. Right-hand cutting direction is standard. Coolant-through capability is not featured on this model, so external coolant or cutting fluid application is the recommended approach when drilling harder alloys.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or production tooling choice for screw machine and short-hole drilling applications in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and aluminum alloy workpieces.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine powered off and the spindle fully stopped. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a properly sized drill chuck or collet to prevent runout. Since this bit does not support coolant-through delivery, apply cutting fluid or external coolant directly to the cutting zone when working with harder steels or stainless to manage heat buildup. Inspect the cutting edges and TiN coating before each use and replace the bit if chipping or excessive wear is observed.
