The OSG 8595356 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metal and alloy applications. Built from high-speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced friction during cutting. The 130-degree faceted point geometry promotes accurate entry and reduces walking on flat surfaces. With an overall length of 52 millimeters and a flute length of 20 millimeters, this short-length bit offers increased rigidity compared to jobber-length alternatives. It is suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and turret lathes where stub-length tooling is preferred. Machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary installers.
This drill bit is appropriate for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. The screw machine length format makes it a practical choice for high-speed production environments where chatter and deflection must be minimized. The web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces thrust requirements and improves chip evacuation. It fits standard straight-cylindrical shank tool holders with a 4.00 mm shank diameter, common in both manual and CNC setups. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports efficient chip clearance in moderately deep holes.
Designed for use in straight-cylindrical shank tool holders; compatible with steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces as specified by the manufacturer for OSG Series 1100.
Install and remove this bit with the spindle fully stopped and the machine isolated from power. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet to the recommended grip depth before operation. Verify spindle speed and feed rate against manufacturer recommendations for the specific workpiece material. Inspect the cutting edge and TiN coating for wear or chipping before each use; a damaged edge should not be run in production.
