The OSG 859525311 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in tight-tolerance production environments. Built from vanadium high speed steel with a TiAlN coating, it delivers extended tool life when cutting steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. The bit runs a No. 39 wire gauge diameter of 0.0995 inches with a 130-degree, 4-facet point for aggressive penetration and reduced thrust. Overall length is 1.811 inches, making it well suited for short-reach, high-cycle applications. Installation and use are handled by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and precision fabricators working on drill presses, CNC machining centers, and screw machines.
This drill bit fits production drilling scenarios where a stubby, rigid tool is needed to minimize deflection. The screw machine length format is a standard choice for drilling in close-proximity fixtures, multi-spindle machines, and automated drilling heads. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and non-ferrous alloys. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web with web thinning keep chip evacuation efficient during high-feed operations common in job shop and production floor environments.
Designed for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, multi-spindle screw machines, and other rotating spindle equipment accepting a straight shank. Suitable for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and non-ferrous workpieces.
Install in a properly sized chuck or collet that matches the 0.1181-inch straight shank diameter; ensure the shank is fully seated and the chuck is torqued to the machine specification before running. Verify spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and bit diameter prior to cutting. De-energize the machine and lock out the spindle before changing or inspecting the bit. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit, so external coolant or cutting fluid should be applied as required by the workpiece material.
