The OSG 8595245 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance metal cutting in production and maintenance applications. It is manufactured from high-speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating that reduces friction and extends tool life. The 130-degree faceted point geometry provides accurate self-centering on entry and reduces walking on flat or curved surfaces. At 46 mm overall length with a 14 mm flute length, this stub-length drill fits standard drill chucks and is well-suited to CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand drills where rigidity and hole accuracy matter. Installation and use are handled by machinists, toolroom technicians, and maintenance mechanics.
This drill bit is intended for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. The screw machine length format provides greater rigidity than jobber-length drills, making it a preferred choice in production environments where hole location tolerance and tool deflection are critical. The 2-flute spiral design with a web-thinned, tapered web configuration supports efficient chip evacuation in both through-hole and blind-hole operations across short-run and high-volume setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling selection for applications requiring a 2.45 mm screw machine length drill bit with a straight-cylindrical shank in OSG Series 1100.
Install and remove drill bits only after the spindle has come to a complete stop and power has been isolated from the machine. Confirm chuck or collet runout is within acceptable limits before use, as excessive runout accelerates coating wear and degrades hole tolerance. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; apply flood or mist coolant externally when drilling stainless steel or deep holes in steel. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine manufacturer guidelines for speed and feed selection.
