The OSG 8595242 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for short-reach, high-precision drilling in metalworking applications. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a coated finish, it features a 130-degree faceted drill point and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 3.00 millimeters in diameter, and the overall length is 46.00 millimeters (approximately 1.81 inches). With a 2-flute spiral regular flute design and a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio, this bit is suited for production drilling where controlled hole quality and tool life are priorities. Machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary installers.
This drill bit is rated for use on steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. The screw machine length format — shorter than jobber length — provides increased rigidity, making it well suited for CNC machining centers, turret lathes, screw machines, and drill presses where stub-length tooling is preferred. It belongs to the OSG Series 1100 and is graded as high performance tooling. The 0.0953-inch (2.42 mm) diameter fits within the 0.0000 to 0.1000 decimal inch size range for this series.
Designed for use on steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. Part of the OSG Series 1100 screw machine length drill bit line covering the 0.0000 to 0.1000 decimal inch diameter range.
Install and remove tooling with the machine fully powered down and the spindle at a complete stop. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank in a properly sized drill chuck or collet to the full recommended grip depth before operation. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for wear or chipping before each use; a damaged point on small-diameter bits can lead to rapid breakage. No coolant-through capability is present on this bit, so external coolant or cutting fluid should be applied as required by the workpiece material and cutting conditions.
