The OSG 8595203 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metalworking and industrial machining applications. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a coated finish, it measures 0.0799 inches (2.03 mm) in diameter with an overall length of 44.00 mm (approximately 1.73 inches) and a flute length of 12.00 mm (approximately 0.47 inches). The 130-degree faceted drill point is web-thinned for easier penetration and reduced thrust, making it well-suited for production and repetitive drilling operations. A straight-cylindrical shank with a 3.00 mm diameter seats securely in standard drill chucks and screw machine spindles. Two spiral flutes in a regular helix provide efficient chip evacuation during cutting.
This bit is engineered for use in screw machines, CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes where short, rigid tooling is required. The screw machine length profile offers greater rigidity than jobber-length bits, reducing deflection in tight-clearance setups. It is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. The Series 1100 designation places it in OSG high performance tooling for demanding production environments. Machinists, tool and die makers, and CNC operators working in job shops or production facilities are the primary users.
Designed as an OEM-style screw machine length drill bit suitable for use in standard drill chucks, collet holders, and screw machine spindles accepting a 3.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate as stated by the manufacturer.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with cutting tool setup. Secure the shank fully within the chuck or collet and verify runout before commencing drilling. Always operate within the recommended RPM and feed rate range for the workpiece material and tool diameter. Wear appropriate PPE including safety glasses and ensure the workpiece is firmly fixtured before drilling.
