The OSG 8595181 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metalworking and machining applications. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a coated finish, this bit features a 0.0713 inch (1.81 mm) diameter, a 140-degree faceted drill point, and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation at entry. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 3.00 mm in diameter and is sized for standard chuck compatibility. At 43.00 mm overall length, the screw machine format provides added rigidity over jobber-length bits, making it well suited for close-tolerance work in production environments. Machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and CNC operators are the primary users of this bit.
The OSG 8595181 is intended for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. The screw machine length format is commonly used on drill presses, CNC machining centers, lathes, and manual mills where a shorter, stiffer bit reduces deflection and improves hole accuracy. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral flute geometry support consistent chip clearing in through-hole and blind-hole operations across both low and moderate feed rates.
Designed for use with steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. Part of the OSG Series 1100 screw machine drill line for high-performance metalworking applications.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tool operators familiar with proper chuck mounting and speeds-and-feeds selection for HSS tooling. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck to the recommended grip depth before use. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use, as damaged HSS bits can deflect or break under load. Do not exceed the recommended spindle speed for the workpiece material and bit diameter.
