The OSG 8595177 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metal fabrication and machining applications. Built from high speed steel with a coated finish, this bit measures 0.07 inches (No. 50 wire gauge) in diameter with a 140-degree faceted drill point and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration. The shorter screw machine length body reduces deflection and improves rigidity in tight-clearance setups. Two spiral flutes in a regular helix promote efficient chip evacuation. At 43.00 millimeters overall length with a 3.00-millimeter straight-cylindrical shank, this bit is suited for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and production drilling operations.
This drill bit is intended for right-hand cutting in production and job-shop environments. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. The screw machine length format is commonly specified when column travel is limited or when drilling from a turret or gang drill setup. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and web-thinned geometry reduce thrust load and help maintain accuracy at small diameters. It is sold individually and is appropriate for machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and maintenance technicians.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard production drill bit for use in screw machine length applications across steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and aluminum alloy workpieces. Part of the OSG Series 1100 high performance drill line.
This bit is installed and replaced by machinists or maintenance technicians using standard drill chucks or collet holders. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and de-energized before changing tooling. Verify chuck or collet grip on the full shank diameter to prevent slippage. At small diameters, use appropriate feed and speed settings for the workpiece material to avoid bit breakage.
