The OSG 8595157 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in tight-clearance and production machining applications. Built from high speed steel with a coated finish, this bit measures 0.0618 inches (1.57 mm) in diameter and features a 140-degree faceted point angle for improved centering and reduced thrust. The shorter screw machine length body provides added rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, making it well suited for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and automatic screw machines. A web-thinned, tapered web design reduces cutting resistance at the tip, supporting cleaner entry and longer tool life in demanding materials.
This bit is intended for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloys, and aluminum silicate in shop and production environments. Its straight-cylindrical shank seats directly into standard drill chucks and collets without modification. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral flute geometry promote chip evacuation during through-hole drilling. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and CNC operators working with small-diameter holes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials will find this bit suited to their requirements.
Designed for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and automatic screw machines requiring a 3.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank drill bit with a 0.0618-inch cutting diameter in the OSG Series 1100 line.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with small-diameter tooling. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout before beginning a production run. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material to manage heat, as high speed steel tooling is sensitive to elevated temperatures. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if chipping or wear is observed.
