The OSG 8595143 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metalworking and machining applications. Built from high-speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced friction during cutting. The 140-degree faceted point promotes accurate entry and reduces walking on hard or interrupted surfaces. At 1.43 mm in diameter and 41 mm (1.6142 inches) overall length, this stub-length drill is suited for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines where rigidity and precision are required. A right-hand spiral flute with web thinning improves chip evacuation and reduces thrust on small-diameter cuts.
This drill bit is intended for production and job shop environments where tight-tolerance small-diameter holes are required in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It is appropriate for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloys, and aluminum silicate. The screw machine length format provides greater rigidity than jobber-length bits, making it a common choice for high-cycle operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. Machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and precision fabricators are the primary users of this format.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or production-use drill bit compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 3 mm shank diameter. Suitable for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, turret lathes, and similar machine tools.
Installation requires a drill chuck or collet holder rated for the 3 mm straight-cylindrical shank diameter. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Secure the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the chuck or collet to prevent slippage under load. No coolant-through capability is present on this bit; apply cutting fluid externally when drilling stainless steel or other work-hardening materials to manage heat and extend tool life.
