The OSG 8595141 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in a range of metalworking applications. Built from high-speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced friction during cutting. The bit measures 1.41 mm in diameter with an overall length of 41 mm (1.6142 inches) and a flute length of 9 mm. The 140-degree faceted point angle promotes self-centering and reduces thrust, making it well suited for accurate entry on flat and curved surfaces. Web thinning further reduces cutting resistance at the tip. This bit is sold individually and targets machinists, toolroom technicians, and production drilling professionals.
The OSG 8595141 is intended for screw machine length drilling operations where a stub-length, rigid setup is required. Its 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio suits shallow-to-moderate depth holes. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 3.00 mm diameter fits standard collets and drill chucks used in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machines. The right-hand spiral flute geometry provides efficient chip evacuation in these materials.
Designed for use with standard drill chucks and collets accepting a 3.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for screw machine, CNC, and drill press setups running steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine powered down and spindle fully stopped. Secure the shank fully within the collet or chuck to the recommended grip depth before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant at the workpiece when drilling stainless steel or harder steel alloys to manage heat. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use, as micro-diameter bits are sensitive to premature failure from improper seating or excessive feed rates.
