The OSG 8595128 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metal fabrication and machining applications. Built from high-speed steel with a titanium nitride coating, this bit delivers extended tool life and reduced friction during cutting operations. It features a 140-degree faceted point angle and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that improves penetration and reduces thrust force. At 1.28 mm in diameter with an overall length of 40 mm (1.57 inches), it is suited for precision work in tight tolerances. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 3.00 mm in diameter. Machinists and tooling specialists handling close-tolerance drilling tasks are the primary users of this bit.
This drill bit is intended for use in screw machine operations and short-run precision drilling where stub-length rigidity is required. The Series 1100 designation places it within a high-performance product family engineered for demanding material removal. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports efficient chip evacuation in these materials. Right-hand cut geometry is standard for use with conventional drilling equipment and CNC machining centers.
Designed as a screw machine length replacement drill bit suitable for steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces in standard drill chucks and CNC toolholders accepting a 3.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank.
This bit is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians in drill presses, lathes, CNC machining centers, or screw machines using a compatible collet or chuck sized for a 3.00 mm shank. Secure the shank fully in the holder before operation to prevent runout. Inspect the cutting edges and coating condition before each use and replace the bit when wear affects hole quality or dimensional accuracy. Coolant-through capability is not present on this bit, so external cutting fluid application is recommended when drilling stainless steel or other heat-sensitive materials.
