The OSG 8595097 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metalworking and fabrication applications. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a coated finish, this bit measures 0.038 inches (wire size 62, 0.97 mm) in diameter and carries a 150-degree faceted drill point angle with web thinning for reduced entry force and improved chip evacuation. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 3.00 mm and fits standard chucks used in drill presses, CNC machines, and screw machines. Overall length is 38.00 mm with a flute length of 6.00 mm. This is a right-hand cut, two-flute spiral bit rated for high performance use by machinists and toolroom technicians.
The OSG 8595097 is intended for precision drilling in tight-tolerance applications common in screw machine work, CNC turning centers, and bench drilling operations. Its short screw machine length geometry provides rigidity and reduces deflection when drilling small-diameter holes. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration support chip clearing in shallow to moderate depth holes typical of production machining environments.
Designed for use in screw machines, CNC machining centers, and drill presses equipped with chucks accepting a 3.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with small-diameter drill bit handling. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify runout to avoid bit breakage at this diameter. Power down and lock out the machine before changing bits. Avoid side loading or angled entry, as small-diameter HSS bits are susceptible to breakage under lateral force.
