The OSG 8595092 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metalworking applications. Built from vanadium high speed steel with a TiN (titanium nitride) coating, this bit delivers extended tool life and reduced friction in demanding production environments. The 0.92 mm diameter and 150-degree, 4-facet point geometry promote accurate entry and reduced thrust force. At 38.00 mm overall length with a 5.50 mm flute length, this short-length format suits drill presses, CNC machining centers, and screw machine setups where rigidity and precision matter. Machinists and tool-room technicians are the primary users.
This drill bit is suited for production drilling in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. The screw machine length format provides added rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, making it a practical choice for tight-tolerance hole applications in manufacturing and job-shop environments. The 3.00 mm straight cylindrical shank fits standard collets and chucks sized for that shank diameter. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and web-thinned, tapered web configuration support chip evacuation in short, interrupted cuts.
Designed for use in standard collets, drill chucks, and screw machine spindles accepting a 3.00 mm straight shank. Compatible with OSG Series 1100 tooling setups. Suitable for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine fully powered down and the spindle at a complete stop. Ensure the chuck or collet is clean and correctly sized for the 3.00 mm shank before tightening. Follow the machine manufacturer's recommended RPM and feed rate ranges for the workpiece material and drill diameter. Inspect the cutting edges and TiN coating for wear before each use; a damaged point will compromise hole quality and can break the bit at this small diameter.
