The OSG 8595064 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metalworking applications. Built from vanadium high-speed steel (HSS) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, this bit offers extended tool life and reduced friction in demanding production environments. It is sized at wire gauge No. 72, with a decimal inch diameter of 0.0250 inches and an overall length of 1.4961 inches (38.00 mm). The 150-degree, 4-facet point geometry promotes accurate starts and reduces thrust load, making it well-suited for short-run and production drilling on CNC machines, drill presses, and manual lathes.
This bit is intended for use in machining and fabrication shops where small-diameter, close-tolerance holes are required. Its screw machine (stub) length provides added rigidity over jobber-length bits, which reduces deflection in precision work. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other non-ferrous metals. The straight cylindrical shank with a 0.1181-inch (3.00 mm) diameter fits standard collets and chucks without modification. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and precision fabricators are the typical end users.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard No. 72 wire gauge screw machine length drill bits used in CNC drilling centers, turret lathes, and benchtop drill presses accepting straight-shank tooling with a 3.00 mm (0.1181 inch) shank diameter.
This bit is installed by machinists and toolroom personnel using standard collet chucks or keyless drill chucks compatible with the 3.00 mm straight shank. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and power is disconnected or the machine is in E-stop before changing tooling. Secure the shank to the full collet grip depth to prevent slippage at operating speeds. Do not exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material and machine spindle rating.
