The OSG 8595051 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for precision drilling in tight-clearance applications. Built from high speed steel with a coated finish, this bit measures 0.020 inches (1/64 inch) in diameter and delivers a 150-degree faceted drill point angle suited for starting without walking on flat or curved surfaces. The web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. With two spiral flutes and a right-hand cut, it handles a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and aluminum alloys. At 1.496 inches overall length with a straight-cylindrical shank, the compact screw machine length profile is ideal for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and manual operations where stub-length control matters.
This bit is used in precision machining, sheet metal work, and fabrication environments where small-diameter holes are required in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The Series 1100 designation places it in OSGs high-performance drill line, targeting production drilling applications where consistent hole quality and tool life are priorities. It is suitable for residential and commercial HVAC fabrication, electrical panel work, plumbing rough-in metal drilling, and general trade shop use. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip clearance in short, blind-hole drilling scenarios common in field and shop settings.
Designed as a replacement-style screw machine length drill bit for use with standard straight-shank drill chucks in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held power drills accepting a 3.00 mm (0.118 inch) straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals using equipment rated for small-diameter tooling. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in a compatible drill chuck before operation and verify runout is within acceptable tolerance for the application. Reduce feed rate and spindle speed as diameter decreases to avoid bit breakage at this small diameter. Coolant through is not supported on this bit; use appropriate cutting fluid or dry-cutting technique per the workpiece material.
