The OSG 8594124 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for high-performance metal drilling applications. Built from vanadium high speed steel and finished with a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating, this bit delivers extended tool life and improved wear resistance compared to standard uncoated HSS tooling. It features a 120-degree point angle, fast spiral flute geometry, and a web-thinned tip with X-Thinning for reduced thrust and cleaner entry. The straight-cylindrical shank accepts standard drill chucks. Machinists, tool-and-die techs, and metalworking professionals will find this bit suited for precision drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous stock.
This drill bit is intended for use in jobber-length drilling applications on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held drilling equipment where a straight shank is appropriate. The 12.4 mm diameter and fast spiral configuration make it well suited for through-hole and entry drilling in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials encountered in production and maintenance machining environments. The TiCN coating provides a harder surface layer that reduces friction and heat buildup during cutting, extending service intervals in high-cycle applications.
Designed as a jobber-length drill bit compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks across CNC machining centers, knee mills, and drill presses accepting shanks up to 12.4 mm in diameter.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with drill press and CNC spindle operation. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and de-energized before inserting or removing the bit from the chuck. Verify chuck jaw condition and grip the full shank depth to prevent slippage during high-feed operations. Do not exceed the drill press or machining center rated speed and feed for the workpiece material and bit diameter.
