The OSG 8594109 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metalworking and fabrication applications. Built from vanadium high speed steel with a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating, this bit delivers improved wear resistance and longer tool life compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The 10.9 mm diameter with a straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without adapters. The 120-degree split point (X-thinned web) promotes self-centering on entry and reduces thrust force, making it well suited for production drilling on CNC equipment or manual drill presses. Overall length is 142 mm with a 94 mm flute length. Diameter tolerance is held to plus 0 to minus 0.027 mm.
This bit is rated for use on a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. It supports blind hole drilling, cross-hole drilling, through drilling, and self-centering applications. The two-flute spiral geometry with a regular helix and tapered web configuration provides efficient chip evacuation in most of these material categories. It is a solid choice for machine shops, maintenance technicians, and fabricators working in general metalworking environments.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks accepting straight-cylindrical shanks at 10.9 mm shank diameter. Rated for primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, and N covering steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous materials. No coolant-through capability; use external coolant or cutting fluid as appropriate for the workpiece material.
A licensed machinist or qualified fabricator should secure the shank fully in the drill chuck and verify runout before beginning production drilling. Power down and de-energize the machine before changing tooling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material, particularly when drilling stainless steel or cast iron, to manage heat and extend tool life. Follow all applicable machine-shop safety practices and any site-specific lockout/tagout procedures.
