The OSG 8594086 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metalworking and fabrication applications. Built from vanadium high speed steel with a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating, it delivers extended tool life and improved wear resistance compared to standard uncoated HSS bits. The bit measures 8.6 mm in diameter with an overall length of 125 mm and a flute length of 81 mm. A 120-degree drill point angle with X-thinned web geometry reduces thrust force and improves self-centering at entry. Intended for use by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and skilled tradespeople working with ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This drill bit is suited for blind hole drilling, cross-hole drilling, through-hole drilling, and self-centering operations. It is designed for use on steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks on manual drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power drills. Regular spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation during moderate to high feed-rate operations. Coolant-through is not supported; external coolant or cutting fluid application is the standard approach for heat management.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit for use in standard drill chucks accepting 8.6 mm straight-cylindrical shanks; suitable for drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power drills used in metal fabrication and machining operations.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tradespeople familiar with proper drilling speeds, feeds, and chip-load management for the target workpiece material. Ensure the drill chuck is fully tightened and the workpiece is securely clamped or fixtured before beginning any drilling operation. Power down the machine and verify zero stored energy before changing or inspecting the bit. Apply appropriate cutting fluid or external coolant to manage heat buildup, as this bit does not support coolant-through delivery.
