The OSG 8594038 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metal fabrication, machining, and maintenance applications. Built from vanadium high-speed steel (HSS) and finished with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating, this bit handles demanding materials including steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and aluminum alloys. The wire gauge size is No. 25, with a decimal equivalent of 0.1495 inches (3.80 mm). The 120-degree point angle with X-thinned web geometry reduces entry force and improves self-centering, making it a reliable choice for precision hole work.
This bit fits standard jobber-length drill applications in metalworking shops, maintenance and repair operations, and fabrication environments. It is suited for blind hole drilling, cross-hole drilling, and general through-hole work in both production and service settings. The straight-cylindrical shank accepts standard 3-jaw chucks on drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand drills. With an overall length of 75.00 mm and a flute length of 43.00 mm, it handles typical metal stock depths found in trade and industrial work. Primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, and N indicate compatibility across ferrous and non-ferrous metals per ISO classification.
Designed for use on steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. ISO material codes P, M, K, and N. Suitable for tool applications including blind hole drilling, cross-hole drilling, general drilling, and self-centering operations per OSG Series 1800 specifications.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or tradesperson familiar with rotary cutting tools. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in a compatible chuck and verify runout before drilling. Power down and de-energize any machine tool before installing or removing the bit. Do not exceed the material and speed-feed parameters appropriate for HSS tooling in the target workpiece material.
