The OSG 8594037 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in a wide range of metalworking applications. Ground from vanadium high speed steel and finished with a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating, the bit delivers extended tool life and improved wear resistance compared to uncoated HSS tooling. At 3.7 mm in diameter with a 120-degree split-point (X-thinned) geometry, it self-centers on entry and reduces thrust load. Overall length is 70 mm with a 39 mm flute length. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard drill chucks or collet systems. This is a Series 1800 tool rated for high-performance use by machinists, toolroom technicians, and production floor operators.
The 8594037 is suited for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and through holes in steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloys, and aluminum silicate. The two-flute spiral design with regular helix promotes efficient chip evacuation in both ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The X-thinned web and tapered web configuration reduce the force required at point contact, making this bit practical for hand-held drilling equipment as well as drill press and CNC applications where a small-diameter hole is required without pilot drilling.
Designed for use in standard jobber-length drill applications across steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. ISO material group codes P, M, K, and N are supported per OSG Series 1800 specifications.
Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck or collet before use and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the diameter. Cutting speeds and feed rates should be selected based on workpiece material and machine capability — refer to OSG Series 1800 cutting data tables. This bit does not support coolant-through delivery; apply cutting fluid externally when drilling stainless steel or deep holes to manage heat buildup. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use, as small-diameter bits are susceptible to breakage if run at incorrect parameters.
