The OSG 8556270 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in a wide range of materials. It features a 12 mm cutting diameter, a 26 mm length of cut, and a 0.5 mm corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the tool-workpiece interface. The variable helix flute geometry helps break up harmonics and reduce chatter during both roughing and finishing passes. A Duarise PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection. This single-end, center-cutting tool is used by machinists and CNC operators in job shops, production facilities, and tool rooms.
The OSG 8556270 is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. With a 90 mm overall length and a 12 mm straight cylindrical shank, it mounts directly into standard toolholders. The regular length classification and normal pitch make it a general-purpose choice for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations where a corner radius is required to improve edge strength and part finish.
Designed for use with standard cylindrical-bore toolholders accepting a 12 mm shank diameter with h6 tolerance. Suitable for CNC machining centers and manual mills running right-hand rotation. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per ISO material codes P, M, K, N, S, and H.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Insert the shank fully into the toolholder to the recommended gauge length and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cut, as excessive runout will accelerate wear and reduce corner radius accuracy.
