The OSG 8555960 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built to Series 8205 standards, it features a 0.6299 inch (16 mm) cutting diameter with a matching 0.6299 inch shank diameter, and runs four flutes with a variable helix and variable index geometry that reduces chatter and improves surface finish. The Duarise coating adds wear resistance and thermal stability. This is a centercutting tool, meaning it can plunge directly into a workpiece. It is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers in job shop, production, and tool-and-die environments.
This end mill is suited for general-purpose milling applications including profiling, slotting, and peripheral cuts. With a 32 mm length of cut and 100 mm overall length, it fits standard toolholding setups on vertical machining centers and CNC mills. The straight flute design and micrograin carbide substrate make it a reliable choice for both roughing and finishing passes where dimensional accuracy is required.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill in the OSG Series 8205 line, suited for use in standard 0.6299 inch diameter toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or lockout state before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Verify runout with a dial indicator after mounting, and confirm toolholder bore cleanliness before clamping. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer-recommended depths of cut or feed rates for the target material.
