The OSG 84701323 is a 6-flute, solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for finishing operations in hard and difficult-to-machine materials. It carries a 1/4-inch diameter with a 0.01-inch corner radius and a 5/8-inch length of cut. The DUROREY PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection suited for high-demand cutting cycles. Right-hand cutting and right-hand helical flutes with a close pitch and high helix angle promote chip evacuation during finishing passes. This tool is intended for use with a standard straight-cylindrical toolholder and is installed by machinists and toolroom professionals working on CNC milling applications.
This end mill is engineered for finishing work in hard material applications, including alloy steel, die steel, and hardened steel. The single-end configuration and regular-length body make it a practical choice for standard depth milling operations on hardened workpieces. It is center-cutting, allowing plunge entry where required. The 6-flute close-pitch geometry reduces chip load per tooth, making it well suited for light radial engagement passes typical in hard-material finishing strategies.
Designed for use with straight-cylindrical toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are hard material and steel, including alloy steel, die steel, and hardened steel. Secondary workpiece material is steel.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician using a compatible straight-cylindrical toolholder. Confirm toolholder bore and runout tolerance before seating the shank. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool change procedure for the CNC control is followed before inserting or removing the end mill. Verify corner radius tolerance requirements against part print before use, as this tool carries a corner radius tolerance of 0.0000 to -0.0080 inches.
