The OSG 84401023 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding machining environments. It features a 5/16-inch (0.3125 inch) cutting diameter and a 0.7813-inch length of cut, making it well-suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations. The tool runs a 43-degree helix angle, which promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action in a wide range of workpiece materials. With a right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration, it is compatible with standard milling machine setups. The centercutting geometry allows for plunge cutting as well as conventional end milling. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers and users of this tool.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and manual knee mills across job shop, production, and toolroom environments. It is appropriate for cutting ferrous and non-ferrous metals, alloys, and similar materials where a solid carbide substrate and a DUROREY coating provide extended tool life and wear resistance. The 5/16-inch shank diameter fits standard ER collets and end mill holders of the same bore size. The 2-3/4-inch overall length suits typical shallow-to-medium depth applications where rigidity is a priority.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard 5/16-inch shank end mill holders and ER collet systems requiring a 0.3125-inch bore. Verify holder bore and projection length before installation.
This tool is installed and operated by qualified machinists or CNC technicians. Always power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the end mill from the holder. Ensure the collet or holder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank to the full recommended grip depth. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material being cut.
