The OSG 8331011 is a helical flute thread mill designed for cutting M12x1.75 metric internal threads in machining center applications. Built from solid carbide and finished with an EgiAs coating, this tool delivers consistent thread quality and extended tool life in demanding production environments. The 5-flute geometry and helical flute design allow efficient chip evacuation during the threading cycle. With a 10 mm shank diameter and a cutting diameter of 9.70 mm, it fits standard toolholders used in CNC milling operations. Machinists and tooling specialists working in job shops, aerospace, automotive, or general manufacturing will find this tool well suited to high-accuracy threading work.
This thread mill is used in CNC machining center setups where helical interpolation is programmed to produce M12x1.75 metric threads. It is appropriate for threading operations in materials where solid carbide tooling and EgiAs coating provide performance advantages, such as hardened steels, stainless alloys, and other abrasion-resistant workpiece materials. The 28 mm length of cut accommodates a range of thread depths common in M12 applications. With a 100 mm overall length, the tool provides adequate clearance in standard vertical and horizontal machining center configurations.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers capable of helical interpolation for metric thread milling applications. Consult your CAM software or toolpath library for M12x1.75 thread milling cycle parameters compatible with this tool geometry.
Thread mills of this type are installed and set up by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Confirm correct toolholder bore and runout before mounting. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Program helical interpolation cycles to match the M12x1.75 thread pitch; do not use tapping cycles with thread mill tooling.
