The OSG 82710021 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. It features a 1/4 inch cutting diameter, a 0.015 inch corner radius, and four helical flutes with a variable helix geometry that reduces chatter and harmonics during cuts. The overall length is 2.75 inches, with a length of cut of 0.4375 inches and a 1/4 inch straight cylindrical shank. The tool is coated with OSG Duarise, a PVD coating that improves wear resistance and tool life across a broad range of workpiece materials. It is capable of both roughing and finishing operations in a single setup.
This end mill is suited for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where tight corner geometry and surface finish quality are required. It is a single-end, center-cutting tool with right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction. The variable helix design makes it particularly effective in applications where vibration control is critical. Compatible with standard toolholders accepting a 1/4 inch straight shank. Applicable workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials.
Designed for use with standard toolholders accepting a 1/4 inch straight cylindrical shank. Rated for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metal, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per OSG material application codes P, M, K, N, S, and H.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder rated for the 1/4 inch shank diameter to ensure runout is within acceptable limits. Verify tool projection and reach before engaging the workpiece. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and coating type.
