The OSG 82300021 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. Built on OSG Series 8230, it features a 0.25-inch mill diameter with a 0.375-inch length of cut and a 3-inch overall length. The four-flute, straight-flute geometry with variable helix and variable index improves chip evacuation and surface finish. The Duarise coating provides added wear resistance, making this tool suited for demanding material removal tasks. Micrograin carbide construction supports tight tolerances and extended tool life in production and job-shop settings. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for stub-length milling applications where rigidity and reduced deflection are priorities. The 0.25-inch shank diameter matches standard collet sizes found on vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills. Centercutting capability allows plunge cutting as well as peripheral milling. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation conform to standard spindle configurations. It is appropriate for slotting, profiling, and contouring passes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a compact cutting length is preferred.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use tooling for standard 1/4-inch collet or end mill holder setups on vertical machining centers and CNC milling machines using right-hand spindle rotation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or tool holder and torque the retention nut to the tool holder specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production run.
