The OSG 82201621 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance metal removal across a wide range of workpiece materials. Built on OSG Series 8220, it features a 3/8-inch mill diameter, a 0.06-inch corner radius, and four helical flutes with a variable helix geometry that reduces chatter and harmonic vibration during cutting. The Duarise PVD coating provides elevated heat resistance and wear protection, extending tool life in demanding applications. At 4 inches overall length with a 1/2-inch length of cut, this tool handles both roughing and finishing operations in a single-end, centercutting configuration. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals select this end mill for its extended-reach geometry and precision tolerances.
The OSG 82201621 is suited for CNC milling operations in job shops, production machining environments, and tool rooms. Its approved workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials — covering P, M, K, N, S, and H material classifications per ISO designations. The straight-cylindrical shank mounts directly into standard end mill holders and collet toolholders. The extended-reach neck geometry at 1-7/8 inches reach length allows access to deeper features such as pockets, slots, and contoured profiles where a stub-length tool would be insufficient.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders and collet-style toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible with CNC machining centers and manual mills configured for right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and runout specifications. Ensure the shank is fully seated to the minimum clamping depth before securing the toolholder. Verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates wear and increases the risk of tool breakage. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or feed rate for the workpiece material and coating type.
