The OSG 82010721 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. It features a 0.5 inch cutting diameter with a 2 inch length of cut, a 0.5 inch shank diameter, and a 4.5 inch overall length. The 4-flute, straight-flute geometry with variable helix and variable index angles improves chip evacuation and reduces harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts. The Duarise finish enhances surface hardness and wear resistance. This tool is centercutting, allowing it to plunge directly into workpiece material. Machinists and CNC programmers specify this end mill for demanding finishing and semi-finishing passes on ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
The OSG 82010721 is suited for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where long-reach cuts or deep-cavity milling is required. Its long-length designation and 2 inch LOC make it appropriate for profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling in die and mold work, aerospace component machining, and general job shop applications. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional spindle setups.
Designed as a standard 0.5 inch shank square end mill compatible with ER, side-lock, and shrink-fit toolholders accepting a 0.5 inch shank diameter in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, powered-down state. Verify toolholder bore cleanliness and proper torque on retention hardware per the toolholder manufacturer specifications before running. Set appropriate cutting parameters — speeds, feeds, and depth of cut — based on workpiece material and machine rigidity; do not exceed the 2 inch length of cut. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use and replace the tool if damage is observed.
