The OSG 82002221 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built on OSG Series 8200, this tool features a 0.625 inch diameter cutting face, a 1.625 inch length of cut, and a 5 inch overall length. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the hardness and wear resistance needed for demanding cuts. The Duarise coating reduces friction and extends tool life in production environments. Four flutes with a straight flute geometry and variable helix and variable index design help reduce chatter and improve surface finish across a range of cutting conditions. This end mill is center-cutting, allowing plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral milling.
The OSG 82002221 is suited for milling operations in machine shops, tool rooms, and production environments. Its regular-length configuration and 0.625 inch shank diameter make it compatible with standard ER and side-lock toolholders used in vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills. Right-hand cut with right-hand flute direction follows conventional milling geometry. It is a practical choice for slotting, profiling, and shoulder milling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials where a solid carbide 4-flute tool is specified.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill in the OSG Series 8200 lineup, compatible with standard 0.625 inch bore toolholders used in CNC and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with toolholder torque requirements and runout specifications for carbide end mills. Ensure the toolholder bore and collet are clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Verify runout at the cutting face before engaging the workpiece to avoid premature edge chipping. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines for speed and feed parameters appropriate to the workpiece material and depth of cut.
