The OSG 7814022 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for high-performance metal removal in milling applications. Carrying the ANSI and ISO designation SXMT120410SR-GM in grade XP3035, this square-shaped insert features a TiALN coating applied via CVD process for extended tool life and heat resistance. The insert measures 0.5000 inches wide, 0.5000 inches long, and 0.1874 inches thick, with a corner radius of 0.0394 inches (1.00 mm) and a maximum depth of cut of 0.0787 inches. It offers 4 cutting edges with a positive rake geometry and a right-hand cutting orientation, making it a productive choice for ferrous machining operations.
This insert is intended for use in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron machining. The GM chip breaker geometry suits a range of roughing to semi-finishing operations. It is compatible with OSG Series 78PHC milling cutter bodies and is held in place by screw clamping. Machinists and tooling technicians working in job shops, production environments, or maintenance machining operations will find this insert suited to demanding material removal tasks in ferrous workpieces.
Designed for use with OSG Series 78PHC milling cutter bodies. Primary workpiece material is steel (P code); secondary materials include stainless steel (M code) and cast iron (K code). ANSI and ISO designation SXMT120410SR-GM.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle powered down and the machine in a locked-out, tagged-out state. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces before torquing the clamping screw; refer to the cutter body manufacturer specifications for proper screw torque. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Confirm the right-hand cutting orientation matches the cutter body configuration before initiating a cut.
