The OSG 7813028 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the XP2040 manufacturer grade and designed for use in indexable milling cutters. It features a ZDKT parallelogram insert shape with a positive rake geometry, a chamfered and honed cutting edge style, and a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process. The insert measures 5.56 mm thick and 9.30 mm in inscribed circle diameter, with a 0.80 mm corner radius. Two cutting edges are provided per insert. The screw-hold mounting method and right-hand orientation are standard for the 78PSE cutter series. This insert is installed by machinists and tooling technicians in CNC milling operations.
This insert is intended for milling stainless steel as its primary workpiece material, with steel as the secondary application. It is suited for moderate depths of cut up to 0.0630 decimal inch in roughing and finishing passes on ferrous materials. The GM chip breaker geometry promotes chip control across both material families. The 78PSE series cutter compatibility and ANSI/ISO code ZDKT150508SR-GM make it straightforward to cross-reference against tooling inventories and holder specifications. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and contour operations on stainless and carbon steel workpieces in production shop environments.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the milling cutter body is fully de-energized and the spindle is locked before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the cutter body manufacturer torque specification found in the holder documentation. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
