The OSG 70410916 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. The tool measures 3/16 inches in diameter with a 1 inch length of cut and a 4 inch overall length, making it well suited for long-reach slotting, profiling, and finishing passes in confined areas. Four spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. A diamond finish on the flute surfaces reduces friction and extends tool life in demanding materials. This end mill is centercutting, allowing it to plunge directly into workpiece material without pre-drilling.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where tight tolerances and fine surface finishes are required. Its long-reach geometry makes it appropriate for deep-pocket milling, contour work, and step-down passes where standard-length tools cannot reach. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration is the standard orientation for conventional and climb milling on most horizontal and vertical machining setups. It is typically run by machinists and tooling technicians in job shops, production facilities, and tool-and-die environments.
Part of the OSG Series 7041 long-length solid carbide end mill line. The 3/16 inch shank diameter fits standard collets and end mill holders sized for 3/16 inch shanks on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
This tool should be installed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician using a properly sized collet or end mill holder rated for the 3/16 inch shank diameter. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Set runout within acceptable limits before engaging the cut, as excessive runout on a small-diameter carbide tool increases the risk of breakage. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and OSG cutting data recommendations for speeds, feeds, and depth of cut for the specific workpiece material.
