The OSG 701-3751 is a solid carbide countersink designed for precision deburring and seat preparation in metalworking applications. It features a 3/8 inch head diameter, an 82-degree included angle, and 20 flutes for smooth, chatter-resistant cutting. The straight cylindrical shank measures 1/4 inch in diameter, making it compatible with standard drill chucks and collet holders. The bright, uncoated carbide construction provides the hardness and wear resistance required for cutting alloy steel, cast iron, hardened steel, and high-carbon steel. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals commonly deploy this countersink for spot-facing and fastener-seat work in both manual and CNC setups.
This countersink is intended for single-end countersinking operations in ferrous metals including alloy steel, cast iron, hardened steel, and high-carbon steel. It does not include a pilot and is designed as a non-pilot, single-end tool. The 82-degree angle matches the standard for flat-head fastener seating in many aerospace and general machining specifications. The 20-flute design distributes cutting load across more edges than lower-flute-count alternatives, which reduces chatter and produces a finer surface finish in harder materials.
Designed for countersinking operations in alloy steel, cast iron, hardened steel, and high-carbon steel workpieces. Fits any tool holder or chuck accepting a 1/4 inch straight cylindrical shank.
Installation and operation of this countersink should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with proper spindle speeds and feed rates for carbide tooling in ferrous materials. Secure the shank fully in the collet or chuck before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits to protect the cutting edges. Use an appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material to extend tool life. Never exceed the tool's rated cutting conditions or apply side-loading forces to the shank.
